Asuka despairs when she is falsely accused of robbery at her workplace and arrested. Her half-brother arrives and offers to help on one condition.

Asuka worries that misfortune will continue to befall those around her if she continues with shogi. Todou recalls his tragic past with the game.

Todou visits the shogi association to get Asukas ban repealed, but Kaori denies him. Later, he and Asuka visit a former shogi association president.

Asuka receives a manuscript of the content that was removed from Shoichi’s autobiography and learns the true reason why he walked out on his family.
