Athanasia notices that Claudes face, and the faces of those around him, grow grim at any mention of her mother, Diana. One day at tea, Athanasia expresses her opinion of her tea. Hearing her words, Claude leaves their tea party. It seems that her opinion is exactly the same as one that her mother once gave. Will the relationship between father and daughter grow distant once more?

The day of Athanasias debutante ball has finally arrived. Claude escorts her, at her request, and together the two begin to dance amidst the music. Ijikiel also appears at the ball, and as the hall grows more lively, Duke Alpheus approaches Claude to offer a certain proposal.
