Britain's Great Cathedrals with Tony Robinson

Over the past 800 years York Minster has been the backdrop to some of the most dramatic events in British history. It houses more than half of all the worlds medieval glass and had a succession of outspoken Archbishops.

Salisbury Cathedral was moved from atop an Iron Age hill-fort to its present location. Britains tallest medieval building has witnessed natural disasters, royal feuds and secret wartime operations.

Tony looks at the history of the largest cathedral in England. Liverpool Cathedral was designed in the Gothic style by Giles Gilbert Scott, took 74 years to build and was paid for by the people of the city.
