Doll has a breakup with her boyfriend, and in a crisis goes to Hollywood to be with her childhood friend Em. To help out, Em hires Doll as her assistant, but Doll struggles working out what a Hollywood stars assistant actually does.

Em is unable to summon tears during an emotional scene; Doll is cast as an extra; Doll befriends John Cusack.

Em undergoes prosthetic makeup to make her look older; Andy Garcia visits the set to talk to Doll; Doll plans to screen test for a role that Em failed to land; Doll and Em have an emotional confrontation.
