Claires outrage at the thieves is tempered by mortification when she discovers her sheep havent been stolen at all, but are wandering in the neighbouring National Park. The arrival of Senior Constable Cook to inform Claire of this puts the wind up Becky and Jodi who suspect he knows more than hes saying about Beckys altercation with Brian.

The sudden death of local farmer Max Martin alarms Harry, prompting inner fears of his own mortality, and a sudden outward drive to defy whatever fate may have in store by pursuing instant and rapid expansion of his property. Meanwhile Claire and Tess come across an accident involving one of their own with dramatic consequences for the Ryans.

Claire is finding it difficult to come to terms with Tess new found relationship with Alex. Her dream of developing a quarter horse breeding program at Drovers Run looks as if it may be close to coming to fruition and shes using it as an excuse to push Tess away. Tess wants nothing more than to help in any way she can, but Claire, having given Tess her share of the sheep sales, has decided its time for her to return to the city. She claims to have Tess interests at heart. She is about to achieve her dream, and wants Tess to have hers - that little cafe in Brunswick she used to talk about.

Tess is obsessed with her new psychology theory - the three levels of why. Armed with one of her mothers old psychology textbooks she figures if she can real reason for peoples actions, then everything will be sorted. But all the psychology in the world cant explain why Alex isnt as romantic as she would like him to be, why Becky and Jodi are at each others throats, or why Loverboy - the bull Claire sells to Nick - keeps breaking out of Nicks yards and returning to Drovers Run.

Jodis fund raising efforts for Miss Gungellan are reaching fever pitch with a charity bush polo match to be held at Drovers Run, but a cloud of discontent covers the girls when they make a macabre discovery in the dam.

During a rabbit plague a baby turns up on Alexs doorstep. Meanwhile, Peter and Claire struggle to deny their feelings for each other.

Claire and Nick come to blows over a vital supply of water in a dry spell. Soon the dispute turns personal and old friends become enemies.

As Stevie loads up her car, Jodi, Meg and Tess discover little Charlotte has been bitten by a redback spider. Fearing for Charlottes life, Tess accepts a ride from Stevie to the hospital, but it turns out to be far from a straightforward trip. With the private investigator in hot pursuit, things get worse when Charlotte has a heat-induced fit. It looks like they are not going to make it to the hospital in time so Stevie steals a plane to speed the trip up. Tess is disconcerted to learn Stevie can read her so well whilst playing poker. Stevie explains the theory of tells – signs that give away what a person is really thinking. Stevie finds herself set up as prime suspect for borrowing Sandras bull, Crusher, after agreeing to transport him for Sandra and settle the outstanding debt between them. When Crusher turns up in a Drovers paddock, apparently ready to service cows on heat, the finger of suspicion is immediately pointed at Stevie. Tess, unaware of Stevies deal with Sandra and knowing Stevies history of borrowing other peoples possessions, reluctantly thinks the worst. Hoping to avoid police involvement, she agrees to sign over half the calves resulting from the serviced cattle to Sandra. Outraged, Stevie does her own sleuthing on Sandras property and learns Crusher broke his penis several days ago. Theres no way he could have sired any offspring and she and Tess realise theyve been had.

Sandra has a surprising solution when Alex and Nick face a heart wrenching decision, while Tess tackles her own problems with a charging bull and a gate.

The girls of Drovers band together with the local community in order to stop a massive dam being built upstream; Meanwhile, Jaz is blackmailed by a pro-dam farmer; Patricks trial run as overseer at Killarney ends in disaster.

Grace, Jaz, Marcus and Frank drives to the city to present their objections to a minister that is responsible for the Dam. Meanwhile back at Drovers Phil is trying to patch things up with Moira and brings her a very personal gift that catches her by surprise.

To work as a team to rescue a kidnapped dog, Ben and Marcus are forced to get along.

Tayler has a new study-buddy, Wolfgang, that Patrick doesnt approve of, causing Tayler to be angry with Patrick for not trusting her. Meanwhile, Moira tries to tell Phil that she is pregnant, but is afraid to disappoint him and ruin their life plans.

Jaz tries to train her horse Annie to become a working horse, but Annie is afraid of something and causes problems on the farm. With help from Ben, Jaz tries to figure out if Annie can stay at Drovers or whether she should show jump again.

Ingrid is becoming more and more anxious about Pauls presence and its affecting her work. Meanwhile, Marcus, Ben and the girls realize Pauls true side so they start making a plan to get rid of him for good.

Drovers has a lot of debt and they need to shear all their sheep in one day to get them to the sale in time. Grace and Marcus go to Fisher to pick up some shearing tools and he has a surprise for her, but Grace sees Ingrid and her guilty conscience comes back. Meanwhile, a fire at Drovers causes even bigger issues for the future.
