Alfred Robbins was born in Queens NY He was raised on Long Island and graduated from the State University of New York Old Westbury Robbins enjoyed a career in the insurance industry prior to becoming a filmmaker In 2008 his debut feature film Grapes on a Vine was nominated for Best Director First Feature film at the 2008 Pan African Film Festival
