Chris Larner was born in 1959 and attended Burnt Mill school in his native town of Harlow in Essex beforein 1977entering the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Since graduation he appeared in many popular television seriesnotably as Clingfilm in fire service drama Londons Burning Additionally he has written several songs and musicals the songGetting Out being used in the Morecambe and Wise pastiche The Play What I wrote In 1983 he married drama teacher Allyson Leetheir son George being born a year laterand they remained firm friends after their divorceto the extent thatwhen Allyson was diagnosed with Multiple SclerosisChris accompanied her to the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland for her to end her life He dramatised the experience in his play An Instinct for Kindnesswhich has drawn both critical and popular acclaim
