Geoff Outlaw

Born in New York in 1946 Geoffrey Bowie Outlaw grew up in Greenwich Village and later in western Massachusetts He attended elementary school and later at the Stockbridge School with longtime friend and Musician Arlo Guthrie The two would act alongside one another in the 1969 film Alices Restaurant as partners in crime who got caught dumping the garbage on Thanksgiving Geoff was apart of the Berkshire Folk Music Society and later played guitar and sang for the band The Fugs In 1974 Geoff moved to Austin Texas where he worked at the Split Rail and booked many Musicians According to his neighbors Geoff lived the life of a hermit He devoted the majority of his life to Music He worked as a local Clerk a horse riding Instructor at camp a vivid storyteller and a loyal neighbor Geoff was considered a local guardian angel to many whom he had watched over in his community for decades
