Derek Vanlint CSC 7 November 1932 23 February 2010 was a Canadian cinematographer and director of television commercials and motion pictures He was best known as the cinematographer for the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien which earned him a Best Cinematography Award nomination from the British Society of Cinematographers
