Eric Kripke is an American screenwriter director and producer best known as the creator of the popular TV series Supernatural Here is a brief biography Early Life and Education Eric Kripke was born on April 24 1974 in Toledo Ohio He was passionate about cinema from an early age After graduating from high school Kripke enrolled at the University of Southern California USC where he studied film production at the School of Cinematic Arts Career Kripke began his career by creating short films that won several awards at student film festivals His first major work in television came in 2000 when he created the series Tarzan 2003 and Traveler 2007 although they did not achieve much success Supernatural True success came to Kripke in 2005 when he created the series Supernatural for The WB later The CW The series followed two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester who travel across the United States hunting supernatural creatures Initially Kripke planned to end the series after the fifth season but its success allowed the show to run for 15 seasons making it one of the longestrunning fantasy series in television history Subsequent Projects After leaving Supernatural in 2010 Kripke continued his career in television production He worked on the series Revolution 20122014 which aired on NBC He also cocreated and produced the series Timeless 20162018 The Boys In 2019 Kripke became the showrunner and executive producer of the series The Boys for Amazon Prime Video The series based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson received high praise from critics and audiences for its brutal satire of the superhero genre Personal Life Eric Kripke is married and has children He prefers to keep his personal life private so little is known about his family Eric Kripke continues to be active in the entertainment industry creating new projects and developing his creative ideas
