Pierce Oliver Brewer Jr was an American actor land developer and professional underwater diver He adopted the name Capt Kidd after his father Julius Kidd Brewer a former awardwinning coach and land developer Growing up in Raleigh North Carolina Brewer Jr moved to Los Angeles where he became known for his appearances in the James Cameron films Piranha II The Spawning 1982 and The Abyss 1989 Years of scuba diving off the coast of North Carolina helped in both of these roles The film The Abyss was dedicated to his memory
