Michael Sheasby is an AFIAACTA nominated actor best known for his work in Mel Gibsons Hacksaw Ridge Jennifer Kents The Nightingale and the BBCs The Luminaries Micheal was born in Pietermaritzburg KwaZuluNatal South Africa and immigrated to Sydney Australia with his family in 2001 After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts NIDA in 2010 Michael began his career leading on stage at the Sydney Opera House in roles such as King Henry in Shakespeares Henry V and Valentine Coverly in Tom Stoppards Arcadia Since turning his attention to screen Michael has played roles such as Tex Lewis in Mel Gibsons Hacksaw Ridge Walter Moody in the BBCs The Luminaries and Aidan Carrol in Jennifer Kents The Nightingale which received the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2018 and was also selected for Sundance Film Festival 2019 Michael won the Casting Guild of Australias Rising Star Award in 2018 In 2019 Michael was nominated for an AFIACCTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in The Nightingale
