Based on the book by Clinton Walker - who co-wrote the film with director Andy Nehl, conducted its interviews and produced its soundtrack album - narrated by singer/songwriter Kev Carmody and shot by Warwick Thornton, it told the story of the genre through the eyes and voices of a dozen of its artists, replete with rare archive footage and contemporary performances. Hailed all round the world, it grew in 2016 into a touring live stageshow.

In 1945, Igor Gouzenko, a code clerk in the Soviet Embassy in Ottawa, bolted for the freedom of the West and took many secret documents with him that helped lay waste to a good portion of Russias Western Hemisphere spy system. His headline-making defection later served as the basis for 20th Century-Foxs The Iron Curtain in 1947. This film, shot in a semi-documentary style, proports to tell how the Soviets might attempt to kill Gouzenko, then living in carefully disguised circumstances somewhere in Canada. Gouzenko, his face covered in a Ku Klux Klan-type hood---no symbolism intended---appears in the epilogue, while Westbrook Van Voorhis, in his usual voice-of-doom March of Time style, narrates the opening sequence retelling the background and setting up the films premise.

To this day, many people believe that the Cathars were the guardians of a treasure of great significance, possibly even the Holy Grail. It is rumoured that in the last days of the siege a small group managed to slip away in the dead of night to retrieve this hidden treasure and get it safely away from the clutches of the Catholic Church. Her sons hold ardent Communist meetings in their apartment, with her blessing. Lucja works hard, but without complaint. After the war, Klemens is inexplicably arrested, accused by the new regime of being a collaborator. Wiktor, now a high-ranking party member, trying to defend him, himself falls into disgrace. Klemens is tortured to confess and dies in jail, a Communist to the end. Lucja is never told about his fate.
