Police officer Porky is called to investigate strange noises at a house that might be haunted. Before he arrives, we tour the house and hear some evil-sounding cackles, which, it turns out, are coming from a radio one that a ghost was listening to. The ghost then sings the title song while getting ready for a night of haunting, just as Porky arrives. The ghost invites him in with a womans voice, then disappears. Porky comes in and gets spooked by some flapping curtains. When he comes back in, the ghost puts a couple frogs into a pair of shoes and sets them loose; they collect a hatrack and a curtain, forming a sort of black ghost that ultimately scares Porky upstairs right into the arms of the ghost. He beats a hasty retreat...

The gold rush. Beans finds gold in the mountains and rushes into town with the news. Soon, everyone (except Porkys daughter Little Kitty, who Beans fancies) has rushed out to the mountains, but because Porky takes Beans in his car (!), they get there first. Porky finds a gold nugget, then keeps taking it from his pocket. Beans finds a treasure chest that contains a book, How to Find Gold. A bad guy spots a sack near Porkys equipment and lassos it; Porky tells Beans that if he retrieves the sack, he can have Porkys daughter. Beans gives chase in Porkys car; theres a shootout. The car runs out of gas, so Beans refills it with moonshine and it takes off like a shot. He snares the bad guy, the sack, and Porky and races back to town. Porky gives Beans his daughters hand and reveals the contents of the sack.

Porky's Poultry Plant

Porky is raising chickens, ducks, and geese. Many birds have fallen victim to the hawk, Porkys going to do everything he can to fight back. He takes to the air, but the buzzard calls in reinforcements; first they pull Porkys tail, then they bombard him with eggs, and finally they steal his machine gun. The birds toss the chick back and forth football style, but drop it; Porky recovers, and manages to take out the flock of buzzards.

Pa Wallace, an ardent member of the Whales, is offered a chance to invest $5,000 in a gold mine by the head of the Whales, Grand Harpoon F. Q. Whitney. Mrs. Wallace is opposed but their four children--Willie, George, Edna, and Mary--are all for it: if Pa makes easy money, they can continue to loaf. Grandpa, a kind but meddling old soul, also arrives for a visit. Money begins to roll in but not as fast as the children spend it. The bubble bursts when the police arrest Whitney and his accomplice Nordingham as swindlers involved in a pyramid scheme. Stone-broke and unable to pay the mortgage Pa put on the house, the clan moves back to their small, old home. The children come through and knuckle down to work to help the family recover. Then, Grandpa tells them that the gold mine never existed and the monthly checks had been coming from him, as he was anxious to prove that they werent just loafers.
