Sade fans may experience a range of emotions while watching the first-rate Lovers Live, but one thing they wont feel is shortchanged--not with nearly two hours of concert footage, 22 songs (including almost all of her Lovers Rock album), and DVD bonus features galore. That sultry, soulful Sade sound is in full effect throughout the concert (filmed at two Southern California locations in 2001), brought to life by a capable band, some superbly evocative visuals and sound effects, and, of course, the singer herself. The show is dramatic, but never overly theatrical; best of all, Sade, while perhaps not the worlds greatest performer, is an adult--youll find no pop-princess posing here. Of the nine songs from Lovers Rock, \Slave Song\ and \Immigrant\ are especially moving, revealing that Sade added some new flavors to her sound during her protracted layoff from performing. This show is pure Sade--and thats a good thing.

The Call of the Wild is a 2007 documentary by independent filmmaker Ron Lamothe detailing the odyssey of Christopher McCandless, who is best known as the subject of the novel (and later film) Into the Wild. McCandless, a self-described \aesthetic voyager whose home is the road\, died on Alaska’s Stampede Trail in August of 1992. His death followed a two-year cross-country odyssey that took him from Atlanta to Arizona, down into Mexico, and from California’s Salton Sea to the streets of Las Vegas and the small town of Carthage, South Dakota, and countless places in between. In the spring of that year, the 24-year-old McCandless had made his way north to Alaska, where he lived in the woods north of Mt. McKinley for 113 days before his death by starvation.

Nick Broomfield met Hsiao Hung Pai, a journalist who was working for the Guardian, when making his feature film Ghosts (about the Morecambe Bay Chinese Cockle Pickers ). As an experiment and using the latest in undercover technology, Nick worked with Hsiao to make a Undercover film set in a Chinese brothel in Finchley. There are over 2000 illegal brothels in London,largely ignored by the police and the authorities, which employ 80% foreign nationals, mostly illegal, that are easily exploited by the brothel owners. The film has a very different feel from the normal undercover film. This is due to the camera being mounted in the center of spectacles, which causes the participants to look directly into the camera, achieving a great intimacy and the possibility of making a character lead undercover film. This is also a very subjective story, told through the eyes of Hsiao Hung Pai, an immigrant herself, who though a very experienced undercover reporter went through great personal trauma revisiting this territory.
