Wigstock was an annual drag festival which glamorously signaled the end of summer for the gay community in New York City for almost 20 years. Late one night in 1984, Lady Bunny and a few friends drunkenly wandered from the Pyramid Club in the East Village to Tompkins Square Park and staged an impromptu drag show in the bandshell. This would soon become an annual drag bacchanal that lasted up until 2001. And now, Lady Bunny has brought it back. This past summer, the festival returned, bringing together legendary queens with some of the new children of drag, into one of the largest drag performances ever staged. Wig explores the origins and the influence of the historic festival through rich archival footage, as well as provides a look into the contemporary drag movement that the festival served as a foundation for. The Past is Never Dead details the story of David Robinsons nearly eighteen-year struggle to prove his innocence and the devastating effects wrongful convictions have on not just the falsely accused but on their family and community. In the fall of 2000, David was arrested for murder in Sikeston, Missouri, a small southern cotton town near the Mississippi River. With the testimony of two suspect criminal informants he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. There was no evidence, DNA, or confession, and he had multiple alibis. The true killer confessed on audiotape in 2004 and committed suicide in 2009, and both informants have recanted under oath, claiming police coercion. Yet the state of Missouri held him in prison until May 2018.

This chilling documentary uses intimate survivor testimonies, archival footage and legal records to tell the story of the over 400 young women who underwent medical experimentation in Auschwitz under Carl Clauberg, an enterprising, sadistic gynecologist. Clauberg, who had already made a name for himself as a research scientist who volunteered his services to Heinrich Himmler of the SS to both help eradicate future generations of Jews and to avail himself of a pool of captive research subjects. These experiments, which sterilized many of the women, was also what spared them from the gas chambers. Many of the women, who were deported to Auschwitz from across Nazi-occupied Europe, were so young that they did not understand their reproductive systems before suffering their destruction. This admirably crafted film traces the history of the survivors and the subsequent attempts to bring Clauberg to justice, which includes examining his -and these womens - enduring contribution to research on birth control and fertility and the role of German companies Siemens and Schering in profiting off the findings.
