Stepping into the beautiful yet realistic behind-the-scenes world of Flowers of Shanghai, the story here breathes and unfolds naturally and organically...the art director purchasing antiques and props at an old flea market, arranging exquisite embroidery and colors to recreate the daily life of Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty out of thin air; the cinematographer meticulously sculpting light and shadow to capture the gradation of faint light imprinted on the film; the sound designer seizing the rare, quiet moments between the croaking of frogs and the sounds of airplanes and trains. Interweaving the recollections of these individuals, this classic film has come to life again. From Oscar-nominated director Daniel Raim - a veteran filmmaker specializing in documentaries about filmmaking - and in collaboration with producer Eugene Suen, this film uses behind-the-scene footage from 20 years ago. It interweaves it with stories about the films preproduction, production, and post-production. This film spans time and space, featuring interviews with such long-time Hou collaborators as Huang Wen-yin, Mark Lee, Tu Du Chih, and Liao Ching-sung. It gives us an intimate look at a master at work and the creation of a seductive, timeless work of cinema.

J. J. Cale: To Tulsa And Back (On Tour with J. J. Cale)

Theres not really a plot, since this is a Documentary. In my opinion, its a very good, very entertaining, documentary of the second half of the 2004 JJ Cale Band tour. Im Rocky, the piano player in the band. Its really accurate, factual and honest. Cale has somehow got a reputation as a recluse, which is undeserved. The fact is: he has always avoided fame, since he thinks, correctly, that fame gets in the way of freedom and friendship. For this film, he set that aside and stepped out for his fans and friends. The John Cale I have known since 1957 is the John Cale you will see in this film. Many of the mysteries people have been curious about are made plain, even the true story of where the nickname \JJ\ came from (the story in the various \Histories of Rock\ is inaccurate). Theres plenty of really good concert footage and some charming episodes of just John, doodling on guitar and singing his songs, in parking lots and back rooms. You will get to know the supporting cast, from band members to sound guys and roadies, members of the management team and friends sitting in. This DVD is an absolute must for anybody who was ever curious about the man behind the music they love. I think the fact that the film crew came over from Munich added much to the effectiveness of the film, since they were obviously charmed by Americans and the American countryside. Theres also footage from the 2004 Crossroads Festival, from the first half of the tour, and interviews with Eric Clapton, who sat in with us on the Saturday.

A Feature Documentary, featuring David Icke The 'mad man' who has been proved right again and again and again. David Icke has been warning for nearly 30 years of a coming global Orwellian state in which a tiny few would enslave humanity through control of finance, government, media and a military-police Gestapo overseeing 24/7 surveillance of a micro-chipped population. They called him 'crazy', 'insane', a 'lunatic', and he was subjected to decades of ridicule, dismissal and abuse. Oh, but how things change. Today his books are read all over the world and his speaking events are watched by thousands on every continent. Why? Because what he has been so derided for saying is now happening in world events and even mainstream scientists are concluding that reality is indeed a simulation. Almost every day something that David Icke said long ago is supported by happenings and evidence. As Mahatma Gandhi said: 'First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
