What is self-organization? How is democracy created? Who decides a punishment? Where are the center and the periphery of the revolution? Where does it start and where does it end? A brief power vacuum turns into the moment of greatest potentiality, when the beliefs of the past and the strategies for the future are discussed. The film tries to look at the mundane spaces of the city, and to understand whether the historical and revolutionary uncertainty is still there.

Thousands of people have crossed the Mediterranean Sea these years trying to reach Europe. Through a mysterious voice from the bottom of the sea, Drowning Letters tells the most tragic years of the European contemporary history. Following written letters, from mothers to their children, the voice accompanies the Spanish NGO rescue vessel, Open Arms, in its most dramatic mission, struggling to save 550 people from a shipwreck. We then travel to Paris, where police violence against migrants contrasts with their efforts to reach Europe. Forgetting that it is a true story, the situation gets worse when the film takes us aboard a Libyan coastguard military vessel and show us the most dangerous place in the world, in Libya, where human beings are being mistreated and enslaved.

An innovative magic realist documentary set in Iraq. Filmmaker Mark Cousins, who was brought up in a Northern Irish war zone, travels to Goptapa, a Kurdish-Iraqi village of just 700 people on a tributary of the Tigris river, and tries to make a dream film about a place that is normally only portrayed in current affairs programmes. He gives the kids cameras. They make little movies about war, love, a fish that goes to a magical place, and a chicken who debates justice. Despite the production being stopped twice by the Iraqi secret police, The First Movie is about wonder and the power of the imagination.
