Filmed in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Sonora, California, this Universal serial (made in that short two-year span of time when they chose to be identified as The New Universal) is Universals 40th sound-era serial, made and released between \Red Barry\ and \Buck Rogers\, and has Eagle Scout Bruce Scott, leader of Martinsville Troop Number One, and his pack setting off in search of lost treasure, using a map provided by Tenderfoot scout Skeets Scanlon Scoutmaster Hale leaves the expedition to rush home to an ailing wife, but Bruce and the scouts push on and the map leads them to \Ghost Town\, where the treasure turns out to be a large cache of counterfeit $20 bills and the plates used to print them. The troop also discover a lost branch of Inca Indians living in the mountains and still undetected in 1939. The tribe gives ferocious efforts to keep the scouts from discovering their Temple cave because it contains a huge radium deposit known to them only for its ability to heal wounds. Joined by G-Man Hal Marvin, on the trail of the counterfeiting ring led by Pug OToole and Doc, the scouts face many battles and opposition from both the gangsters and the tribe.

Keith Neville and Dan Casey, two small-time stage actors, are traveling by bus back to New York City, and have an overnight stay in a small town. They take a room in a local hotel and a murder is committed in an adjoining room to Keith. The latter hears the gunfire, goes to investigate, and is there when the local police arrive. He and Casey are both held on suspicion of murder and jailed. While a local policeman is going through their luggage at the hotel, he discovers a letter of introduction, in Keiths suitcase, that reads: It is requested that all official courtesy be extended to Mr. Geoffrey Desmond, Chief Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department of the London Matropolitan Police, during his journey on a dangerous secret mission. The letter is a stage-prop from the play the two actors had just performed in, but the Police Chief thinks it is real and releases them from jail, and Keith decides to stay on and help the local bobbies solve the murder. He has a vested interest in doing so as Julie Graham, a girl he met on the bus-trip, is the daughter of the a man the District Attorney has now charged with the crime, and Keith stays to help her clear her father of the charges.
