Dr. Simon Sparrows (Sir Dirk Bogarde) love life improves dramatically when lovely Delia Mallory (Samantha Eggar) is brought into casualty with a sprained ankle. As a model shes relieved at the diagnosis, and shes as attracted to Sparrow as he is to her. Meanwhile, Sparrow finds himself treating Sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice), who has started sleep-walking. He has also suddenly lost his gruff manner, and is being nice to everyone. Sparrow quickly diagnoses Spratts condition: hes fallen in love. The object of his affection is Physiotherapist Iris Merchant (Barbara Murray). Sparrow urges him on, but she has another suitor: Major Tommy Ffrench (Donald Houston). Spratt tries to hire a private detective to follow her, but when that doesnt work out, he follows her himself.

Doctor in Clover, a.k.a. Carnaby, M.D. is another Doctor movie, but this time, Dr. Gaston Grimsdyke (Leslie Phillips) is the main doctor in the story, looking for love and romance from the hospital nurses, much to the annoyance of main Administrator Sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice), who wants his doctors to be one hundred percent focussed on the job. Numerous antics follow, with Dr. Grimsdyke getting Spratt fixed up with the new prim-and-proper Matron Sweet (Joan Sims), and his attempted failures to lure the hospitals beauty, the physiotherapist.

Dr. Burke is in love with Ophelia but doesnt have time to propose to her as she leaves for a cruise to the Mediterranean. Also on board the cruise ship is an old school chum of Burkes who plays Dr.Dare in a very popular TV series and who women flock to. Burke decides to join the cruise, but is first apprehended as a stowaway, and then becomes the captains steward. For Burke, trying to talk to Ophelia is a hard enough task, but he meets some funny characters on board, such as a pools winner and a very stubborn captain.
